Very often
in social housing developments the desired standardisation goes against
the very nature of housing: its individuality. In this design project,
which was developed within a design studio, vertically stacked containers
were created, wherein by the use of a particular geometry, individuality
was achieved. Each individual container (apartment) was provided with
various skylights, allowing unobstructed sun and moonlight. The interior
spaces were bare receptacles, which would receive pre-fabricated service
units in a variety of ways, thus achieving high levels of plan flexibility.
The relatively complex geometry expressed in the exterior would delineate
each apartment, encouraging a feeling of identity in its occupants. |
